I’m a redhead with tons of freckles and splotches. I could see a reduction in those about a month after using the product 2x/day. I wish I had taken before & after photos! I’ve paid tons of money for products that didn’t do 10% of the job this one did, and it’s so cheap. The only downside is the gross smell. It smells like yeast infection cream. Yuck. But that’s not enough to make me give it under 5 stars considering the price and level of effectiveness. -  Valkyrie

I recently purchased a jar of Nadinola from Amazon. The label on the package reveals that Nadinola Skin Bleach Extra Strength contains 3% Hydroquinone. This fact is not stated in the Amazon product description. Also on the label is this charming sentence: “Stop use and consult a doctor if a gradual BLUE BLACK DARKENING occurs.” Capital letters are my emphasis.

I did some research on Hydroquinone and found these alarming facts:

1) “The Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep database, which compares cosmetic ingredients to more than 50 international toxics databases, identifies hydroquinone as a carcinogen, immunotoxicant and developmental and reproductive toxicant, and also identifies concerns regarding the ingredient’s risks for various organ systems, the endocrine system and neurotoxicity.” —Environmental Working Group. Skin Deep. Hydroquinone.

2) You can also read a rather scary wikipedia article on Hydroquinone.

3) Hydroquinone is banned by all countries in the European Union.

My advice is to purchase Nadinola only after you acquaint yourself with the inherent risks of Hydroquinone. Nadinola may be effective at lightening skin, but at what cost? There seem to be some serious side effects associated with its principal active ingredient.

Based on the fact that Nadinola contains a carcinogenic compound, I’m giving this product one star.
